Editorial policy
How we publish and maintain calculator content.
Material Estimate Hub is built around transparent formulas, visible assumptions, and practical estimating notes. The goal is to make each calculator useful as a first-pass planning tool.
Formula visibility
Calculator pages show the main formula and a plain-English explanation so users can understand how dimensions become quantities.
Assumption labeling
Yield, density, waste, pitch, and unit assumptions are kept visible on the page instead of hidden inside the calculator interface.
Update review
Pages include a last-updated date. Updates focus on clearer formulas, better examples, improved calculators, and corrections to confusing assumptions.
Corrections
Readers can send corrections, product-specific concerns, or calculator requests to the contact address. Corrections are reviewed against the formula and page assumptions before publication.
What we avoid
- Presenting a calculator result as professional engineering, code, legal, or contractor advice.
- Hiding critical assumptions such as bag yield, density, waste factor, pitch multiplier, or unit conversion.
- Using broad national pricing as a final local project cost without asking users to enter local prices.
